INTEGRATED MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
Structuring of V & M do BRASIL’s quality system was initiated in 1979, as the first requirements for standardization of the petroleum and nuclear sectors came out in Brazil and elsewhere. From then on, the Company started to work continuously on the formal structuring of its Quality System, having achieved its first international certification in 1990: the API Q1 standard for the oil sector. In 1995, the company was awarded the ISO 9002 certificate. In 1997, V & M do BRASIL initiated the implementation of environmental standard ISO 14001, of automotive industry standard QS 9000, and of an occupational health & safety system which gradually evolved towards certification with the OHSAS 18001.
The perceived need for integration among these various systems was the starting point for setting up an Integrated Management System (IMS) in 2000, which brought about greater synergy to the various company’s efforts, and the adoption of best management practices.
As it joined the VALLOUREC & MANNESMANN TUBES Group, V & M do BRASIL adopted Vallourec Group’s TQM philosophy, starting and strengthening various programs in the areas of quality, occupational health & safety, environment and social responsibility.
