Supplying the domestic market demand for seamless steel tubes, V & M do BRASIL and its subsidiaries V & M FLORESTAL and V & M MINERAÇÃO are the Brazilian units of the VALLOUREC & MANNESMANN TUBES Group. With dozens of industrial plants and business in four continents, V & M TUBES is a holding company 100% controlled by the Vallourec Group through French capital.
V & M do BRASIL’s industrial complex is concentrated in its Integrated Barreiro Plant, in Belo Horizonte. With capacity to produce 600 thousand tons of seamless steel tubes per year, the plant is one of the most modern and best-equipped in the world, and the globe’s one and only steel tube manufacturer to use 100% renewable energy in its production process.
The compound occupies a total area of nearly 2.5 million square meters and features a complete production line comprising two charcoal-fueled Blast Furnaces; LD Steelworks with Ladle Furnace; Vacuum Degassing Unit and Continuous Casting of round bars; plus two Tube Mills fitted with Quenching and Tempering line; Cold-Drawing Shop; Forge for automotive axles and rear shafts; Threading lines and upsetting lines for tube welding.
Founded under a request by the Brazilian Government in order to meet the needs for seamless steel tubes of the national petroleum industry, V & M do BRASIL has had three successive denominations along its 55-year history:
From 1952 to 1977: Companhia Siderúrgica Mannesmann
From 1977 to 2000: Mannesmann S.A.
Since 2000: V & M do BRASIL
